Love fashion? Love Windows Phone 7.5? Live in Europe? Then you’re in luck.
Earlier today, Jil Sander, one of Europe’s leading fashion designers, announced that the brand’s first mobile phone, the “Jil Sander Mobile”, is going on sale starting today in Germany, Austria, Italy, France and the UK.
On the surface, you get a phone that’s been beautifully custom designed by Jil Sander and engineered by LG. Each comes pre-loaded with a unique Jil Sander signature blue color scheme and Jil Sander shopping app that helps you track down Jil Sander boutiques, explore deals and collections, and connect to other Jil Sander fans. It also comes with a custom leather protective sleeve (also in Jil Sander signature blue) and a pair of premium noise cancelling headphones.
On the inside, you get very respectable specs; a 1Ghz processor, 16GB of flash storage, a 5MP auto-focus camera, quad-band (850/900/1800/1900) HSPA+ GSM connectivity, and of course, Windows Phone 7.5.
You can get yours here.
Looks pretty cool. I hope someone can answer this: Why are all of the WP devices thus far maxed out in storage capacity at 16GB???? Why?!? Who can come out and tell us consumers why there has been such reluctance to introduce devices with greater than 16GB of storage? I don't think folks really care if it's NAND or expandable via MicroSD. I love Windows Phone, but no one from MS or ODM's have come out telling folks why this continues to happen. It's such a shame.

Question??? What made Jil Sander decide to use WP7.5 as the software? Is this a partnership with MS, did LG suggest WP, or is it all 3 working together????
I like the darker blue tiles. Wonder if that's the regular blue theme (looks darker because of the picture exposure) or a custom blue for that phone.
It looks an awful lot like the phone we got at PDC '10 -- the LG Optimus 7...
Only 6 comments so far? I'm kind of disappointed in the enthusiasm for this phone. Come on people! A new device, even if it's not a surprise to some of us, is moving ground. It's one more slug of amp WP needs, and I'm proud to welcome it and the crowd it attracts! Remember, this is what separates WP from the herd, diverse hardware and consistent user experiences. Windows Phone just can't be touched.
Looks cool but the specs aren't going to wow anyone.
@ChrisLynch i too want an answer for the 16GB max capacity for just about all WP's.
@ChrisLynch @ThaRebeliouZ 32GB internal storage model is being sold in Japan now.

There is no restriction. It's just about generation of hardware that affects the cost and eventually the clientele have vast 'range of devices'. More 16gigs+ devices are coming forth; high expectations from Nokia in the coming months.
Thanks for the update guys, i'm looking forward to the next gen of Hardware coming out next year. That should really help push WP Mango into serious contention for the long haul. Definitely looks like some exciting stuff coming soon!
The Blue theme is great. I was hoping that the theme selection would have expanded to include this with the Mango update. Maybe a future update?
Microsoft needs to seriously think about 8MP camera smart phones. The competition including Apple have realised this and have several handsets. At the moment there are very few phones like the HTC Titan on 8MP.

Kudos for an interestng marketing idea/concept for WP and LG but...that Electric Blue band or design is hardly original or high-end fashion. Home Theatre gear and Hi-Fi components have been featuring that Blue in Visual "bling" for years, from Panasonic to LG, Sony etc.
It's like the default Sound System blue! lol
Oh - from what I can recall reading, each OEM gets the right to one additional colour theme for their devices on top of the default WP7/WP7.5 pallete. With this the case, I'm guessing they will be exclusive.
I agree with Matt Munich. This looks just like a "pimped" version of my LG Optimus 7. And the theme color may be aquired through an accent changer.. :)
