Last month Ryan and I talked about our favorite summer travel PCs. This month we’re back to talk about some of the most mercilessly powerful, aggressively styled, outrageously large PCs out there – gaming rigs.
Even in this niche class of PC, there’s something for everyone, whether you want something small, big, inexpensive or totally loaded. For this video, we shot the Alienware M15x, the Origin EON 18 (which I reviewed just a few days ago), the Asus Republic of Gamers G51J 3D, the Acer Aspire 5738DC-6165, the Toshiba Qosmio X505 (a.k.a “Big Red”, read about why I love it here), and Ryan’s custom Falcon Northwest FragBox.
Watch the video and let me know which one you liked the best:
Have a question about this or any other PC? Post a comment, hit me on Twitter or Ask Ben Anything via email. Your question might appear in my monthly Ask Ben Anything Q&A column.
Oh my, just can't decide which one I'd like best (not to mention I wouldn't have the cash to buy almost all of them).. but that's a whole lot of heavy hitters in that list.
Oh dear. Laptops are not gaming rigs, first of all, second, all those laptops are pathetic except the EON 18 which has the option for a Mobility Radeon HD 5870, even then its equal to a Radeon HD 5770. The FragBox is in a league of its own because its a Desktop. Was getting excited about seeing ACTUAL gaming rigs!
@MrAlex - why can't laptops be "gaming rigs"?
@MrAlex if alienware is not a gaming rig im not sure what is.... i bought the lighter m11x and still i can play most of modern games in high settings. I cant imagine what the 15 or 17´´ setups are capable of.
@MrAlex: I have to disagree with you. Some of these machines, like the Alienware and Origin, out-spect just about every desktop I've ever used. They are moster machines that offer superb performance. I also have to disagree that the other PCs are "pathetic" - I've used every single one and they all provide good performance. That X505 has Blu-Ray, Core i7, SSD, 8GB RAM, etc...that's a good box, period.
How I would love to have one of those....
