Due to the popularity of the first Windows 7 theme of the best Bing homepage images, the Bing Team has released a second Windows 7 theme today was some more incredible images for your Windows 7 desktop. You can download the Bing’s Best 2 Windows 7 theme here. And just in case you never got around to it, you can download Bing’s Best – their first Windows 7 theme – here as well.
This is clearly an attept to promote both windows 7 and bing.
My views on bing.
Better than live but certainly an extremely bad engine. It often gives of topic anwsers and is biased towards Microsoft.
Windows 7.
As bad as vista and a huge waste of money. Microsoft is trying to promote it too much. These extras could have been made available for xp as well.
Ok, so you believe selling XP would affect Windows 7 sales and are putting 7 adds on the xp page of microsoft.com. I feel I wasted money on both 7 and vista ULTIMATE not to mention server 2008 R2 with its heavy price tag, I don't like it at all. It is nothing compared to Ubuntu server! I would gladly pay for a second xp release at the same price of 7 proffessional. Lets say Windows XP R2.
Things I noticed about Windows 7 as a software devlopper.
I am a software developer for both Windows and linux based Opeating systems. I am HIGHLY unsatisfied with Windows 7. I use Operating systems beyond the average computer user and on windows 7 and vista running on an 8GB ram system, I keep getting Windows is running low on memory, following by system HANG or BLUE Screen a few minutes after.
Why not keep windows 7 and a new version of XP for sale.
E,g Microsoft Windows XP R2, both sold at same price.
Also I am already expecting stuff like this from Microsoft like
"Internet Explorer 9 is unavailable as Windows XP does not have the capacity to run it." I know Microsoft's strategies to kill XP very well.
These are lies, Windows XP is built in such a way it can be upgraded to support all sorts of new stuff, that's why it has lived so long. Microsoft has used components of Win 2k that have been ported all the way to WIndows 7.
I feel like I have purchased Vista and 7 Ultimate for nothing. I might as well have donated the money to OpenSource projetct.
The very idea of posting "Windows 7 90 million copies" is to promote sales further.
Also Windows 7 starter does not support wallpapers! Even windows 3.1 supports that!
Adding "Windows XP" mode is clear proof that Xp is a good OS.
Microsoft is clearly using AGGRESSIVE marketing strategies to kill XP and spread 7.
You do not realize that many of us are willing to buy Windows XP R2 and pay the price of 7 professional for it,
So for my favorite client Windows OS is Xp media center edition (I have OEM copy). As far as server goes Windows 2008 R2 is a huge waste of money. Linux server is free and way better.
I never knew there was a Bing images theme released. Now the most important question is are these images high resolution or the same ones directly from Bing.com which are low resolution? Can you tell please Brandon?
@ 7flavor I tried both themes. They are high resolution. They also have a bing watermark.
Anyone know how I can use my copy of 7 ultimate to install home premium legally?
Its a pity Windows 7 has no way to install many themepacks at once and slideshow pictures from many at the same time. I have to manually open all themepacks (I downloaded all) one by one. Then to slideshow I copied all pics in one directory.
I used www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx to get the same experiance on Windows XP.
Can you please explain why vista and 7 uses hardware acceleration to display opaque aero. A pure waste of resources. You could have just made that in to a normal theme!
Also why have you simply stolen a UI for Windows 7 from KDE (en.wikipedia.org/.../KDE). We had the big taskbar, transparencies, search in start menu ages before Windows.
I mean I know you do not voilate any copyright but I don't see OS X mimicing other UI's.
@kio_http, your copy of Windows 7 Ultimate will only install Windows 7 Ultimate. You will need to buy a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium to get Windows 7 Home Premium. Thank you for your comments.
@7flavor, the wallpapers of of 1920x1200 resolution. Unless you're running montiors with a higher resolution, these should look quite nice. I'm sorry you didn't even know the first Bing theme was released. I guess I need to be better at calling out great Windows 7 themes ;-)
@ Brandon LeBlanc
If you want to satisfy your customers, I would highly appreciate Microsoft resolves my issues with Windows 7 via updates.
Also it is ridiculous that I can't use home premium if I have Ultimate! Why would I repay for something with less features.
And also a justification on my remarks about windows 7's UI please.
Now what you guys have done is, just compiled all popular images into a single theme? Nothing impressing, or is it? Now here is my question, will it dynamically update the images from the web or what?
@kio_http
Stop spamming the site with your BS. Please.
@Mansoor Ahmed , It nothing more than they said it is.
@kio_http , if you truly are a professional software developer you should know where you should write your bug reports and were to get answers, its def not in this blog.
@simko
Yes, I know bugs are for Microsoft connect. Sorry, I don't dislike Windows or anything. Its just that I purchased many copies of Windows Vista and 7 Ultimate. I find 7's features like taskbar control through the Windows API very inviting. But I am unable to harness this functionality because whenever I compile by projects in visualstudio, Windows runs out of memory.
I'm actually praying that my issues are fixed with SP1. I do not want to stay with XP, its just that I am forced to.
