With more than 19,000 employees and flights across 115 cities around the world, technology is an instrumental ingredient in helping them stay true to their mission.

Nothing gives us more pleasure than helping our customers achieve their business goals and we’re pleased to share Korean Air’s story about how they “landed” on moving to Windows 7 to move their company forward.

First, I have huge respect for how airline companies like Korean Air manage such a large and complex environment. Every aspect of the business has to operate at a level of gold-standard precision or else a ripple effect of challenges could ensue for the airline.

Korean Air prides itself on its precision and continues to win many accolades for their business excellence as a result. To maintain their leadership position, Korean Air told us it was time for a change regarding their desktop technology. Using Windows XP proved no longer good enough and they turned to Windows 7 Enterprise to take their company to new heights. Their primary goal in migrating is to drive greater business efficiency, and to do so without causing disruption to employees.

Korean Air plans to be 100 percent deployed on Windows 7 Enterprise by the end of 2011. The migration has not only been smooth, but now Korean Air tells us that based on moving to Windows 7, they’re able to have a level of business insight not available before. As a result, they can better forecast market opportunities and are benefiting from new found business efficiencies to maintain their mission in Excellence in Flight.

Korean Air also plans to take full advantage of the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP), which will help reduce their support costs, and ease their overall management experience moving from Windows XP to Windows 7.
