Gregg Keizer over at Computerworld today posted an article about the results of the annual satisfaction survey conducted by American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI). In the article, Windows 7 is credited for boosting customer satisfaction scores for PC makers such as HP, Dell, and Acer. According to the survey, customers perceive the quality of PCs as better because they are easier to use – courtesy of Windows 7. Windows 7 contains many features designed to make a PC easier to use such as Jump Lists and taskbar pinning for pinning your favorite apps to your taskbar (or your favorite websites if you have the Internet Explorer 9 Beta installed!) as well as Aero Snap. It is great to hear that Windows 7 is contributing to customer satisfaction of the many wonderful PCs from our OEM partners!
We know people are pretty happy and excited about Windows 7, I posted back in February and also again in May about customer satisfaction with Microsoft and with Windows 7.
Although many will point out that Apple leads in customer satisfaction, I would remind people that it's the result of one vendor, one vision, and Apple's customers are happy because they like THAT vision. Of course, that vision is only truly embraced by about 4% of the entire global computer market.
Meanwhile, Windows 7 is running on many vendor's PC's in many configurations, and either you like that presentation or not-- though clearly most do. Not all vendors are equal, and not all models that a vendor makes are equal. I like the buffet style of Windows systems, personally. I find the diversity very valuable and enjoyable.
The three things that lured me to upgrade to Windows 7 was the promise of multitouch/slate devices, updated Media Center capabilities and the DLNA/PlayTo feature. I'm currently enjoying the DVR capabilities on a Lenovo IdeaCentre Q150 using a HDHomeRun tuner. All this works really well with my Windows Home Server from HP. But I'm still waiting for the right device to take advantage of multitouch. I'm very interested in the recently revealed Dell Inspiron Duo. I find its quick dock capability and its convertible nature to be huge pluses. HP's TM2 is also very compelling because of its pen capability and more powerful processor line...I just wish that device was smaller/thinner and had quick dock capability as well. We are soo close...I can feel it. Go OEM Partners!
