Last week, we shared our perspective on what it means for a browser to be all around fast. By harnessing the full power of the PC, Internet Explorer 9 Beta enables sites to create new types of web site. In this post, we talk to Myspace about what an all around fast browser means for their site.
Myspace was started back in 2003, and quickly grew into the top global site to connect with friends online. Myspace passed 100 million users back in 2006, and continues to attract a large audience today.
Over the years the site has blossomed to take on a heavier music and video presence – both areas prime for innovation on the web. We caught up with Patrick Srail, director of product management for Myspace Video, at the Internet Explorer 9 Beta event in San Francisco, and asked him how an all around fast browser like Internet Explorer 9 Beta is helping them take the video on their site to the next level. Patrick also gives a demo of the new Myspace features enabled by Internet Explorer 9 Beta.
The hardware acceleration in Internet Explorer 9 Beta enables Myspace to serve higher resolution HTML5 video, upping the experience their customers get watching video on the site. Check back later in the week to hear from another partner who has taken advantage of the various performance enhancements in IE9 Beta.
