However I own a Windows Media Center Extender and am running Windows Vista SP1 and things work fine. I know of many others who have extenders and SP1 and things are working for them as well. To say all Windows Media Center Extenders don't work with SP1 would be inaccurate. However if you would give me the model of the extender you are having issues with I can relay the issue to folks at Microsoft and try to see what's up.

Thanks,

Brandon

Now this is really a Vista SP1 issue by it severely affects MCE.

Extenders will not run or connect after SP1 is installed.

I suspect it has to do with the MS guys locking out the multi-user termsvr.dll hack has affected the fast user switching components which the extender technology uses as well.

Then again I wonder if the MS guys did what the NetGear wireless guys did and hijacked fast user switching for some other purpose( which produces the same result as that which is occuring in Vista SP1).

Or the Free OneNote 2003 Promo that ran in the UK only.

One other reason why Promos like this are more common in the USA is probably due to tax reasons.

Infact in the USA contestants who win competitions usually get hit with a Tax Bill, I guess the promoter may even get a Tax write off?

Read here:

http://ask.metafilter.com/37275/You-win-You-lose

The nice thing about the above competition is its for up to $10,000... I guess that would allow some flexibility to the winner to recieve slightly less cutting edge winnings(i.e. 50" TV instead of a 60" TV), if his taxes would be more advantageous to them as a result.

If your PC is not turning on perhaps its the power supply or the connection to your laptop.

You would at least see a BIOS screen on Boot if your hardware was working. You probably have a hardware not a software error.

It won't turn on, it was just fine last night. This morning when I got up I noticed it was off so I pressed power and it would not come on. So I figured something in the back was loose so I was going to deal with it when I got home. Well when I got home I checked it and nothing was loose in the back. So I was wondering, what could possibly be wrong with it?
