I code html/css as a hobby by hand and have use Opera,FFox,IE,Konq for testing - some standardization would be appreciated (rather than having to search around for IE6/IE7 hacks in order to display pages properly). I'd rather be spending the time creating nice looking pages than applying workarounds for buggy browsers.

It would be good to have an IE browser as capable as the free browser Opera. Something that works with agreed standards like the ones from W3C for example. I like IE 6/7 because they have are relatively small and fast.

Small, fast, compliant... please. No workarounds, no hacks. And please nothing like netscape navigator... thats just not right at all...

So IE8 will not be a part of SP 1 of Vista, will it be a part of SP2? And the Beta comes out in 2008 when is the final product released? Or will IE8 be with the new OS?

Even though I have a strong preferance for the customizable view of IE6 I was glad to install IE7 on my in laws computer today.

Their PC was filled with adware Freeze.com, Whatusave, Funweb, Winternals Power Registry cleaner and some other stuff. IE6 was falling apart, after I installed IE7 along with the malware removal tool the PC is much better than it was.

Im probably going to have to reinstall Windows XP but IE7 will extend the time I have to act a little bit so I can enjoy Christmas.

Cant wait for IE8, although is IE8 going to be Vista only? Because that would be a shame. People like a consistant browsing experience weather theyre using XP or Vista. Its nice to start with a fresh browser every once in a while.

i think i find a bug in IE browser. it been found in IE6 and IE7,but i dont know it's still in ie8.

if you press Ctrl+F5，IE can be send a right request:

but,if you press F5, IE will send a wrong request and recived 304 of Http header,It will be request:

Get a.html...

It be work good in IE.

That's fantastic news! It would be great to know that I can finally use a brouser that renders pages as good as Firefox (or better) and be able to use the things that can only work on IE. Do you have any idea on the release date? Summer?

This is wonderful news! As a web devloper, I am very pleased with the new level of commitment Microsoft is making to this initiative. This will save untold amounts of time and frustration, and I hope you guys stick to it. Great job, guys.

Hey dovella: no SP1 does not include IE8; the IE8 Beta will be a separate release in 2008.

It would be good if they can loosen the coupling of IE with the operating system. The problem is, if we get some problems with IE, we are left with no other choice than reinstalling the OS (in the case of Vista).I myself was a victim of this recently. If it can be added/removed/changed as a Windows Features, it would be really good and helpful.
