1) I have to insert card into the reader 2-3x till system detects it (MS Vista Business)...

2) Speed of reading from any card is about aprox. 2MB/s (let's say it's okay, but...) speed of writing to card is about 100kb/s (before hotfix installation it was +- 2MB)

... is there any other (and finally working) fix?

thx.

I am facing a similar issue with my HP pavilion dv2224ea laptop with Vista home premium. It has a built in card reader which worked fine initially. But now it has stopped recognizing any SD cards. My Sd card shows up under "Disk drives" in Device manager with a yellow exclamation mark next to it. And also when I right click on it and go to Properties, it shows " This device can not start (code 10).

I have tried updating drivers but to no avail .The HP tech support guy asked me to download the latest updates for the BIOS and the card reader. That didnt work either. Any suggestions please on what I could try to fix this isue?

Thanks,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Architecture_of_Windows_NT

Also I remember that NT's architecture was based on VMS, a VAX OS because it's engineers came from DEC.

It is true that 9x and 3.x was not designed very well, however. Windows was originally designed as an operating environment that ran on top of DOS, not a full OS. However, over time it became more like an full OS.

We ran a whole heap of programs on our VAX, Surface Acoustic Wave design software that would run for days, IC design programs, RF circuit design software, management tools, all pretty complicated stuff. Not much fancy graphics, but thats all child's flip book stuff anyway, nothing clever about it. No emulator, I am running original MAC hardware and software, system 6.08 and 7.5.5. Where on Google....? Evidence for lack of competant systems design engineers - MSDOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP. Windows NT and 2000 are bearable, and CE is pretty good - what went wrong? Dave who? And Word - any claim that design was involved in Word could be subject to a class action! But Word on the Mac was pretty good - written by Microsoft too! I belong to a generation that spent their days struggling with XTs and ATs, then went home to find their kids with Amigas and Ataris. Now that hurt! But one day in 1991, somebody gave me a Mac.....

Cheers,

Merv
