i have just upgraded to vista ultimate and the dreamscene is chuffing awesome, the best feature by far.

however when i run it its very jerky i have loads of ram and a massive graphics card but it still jerks quite alot, any suggestions

I have ultimate .... downloaded the dreamscene update and then the content pack, and they installed, but I cant find anything in the change desktop picture section in personalize .... and the dreamscene folder in the windows folder is empty

Can anyone help ?

Hi nandell

I have a new HP Pavilion too and just downloaded the Nvidia updates etc. When I went back to get the new DreamScene content, it didn't show there was any there.

But if you click the Check for updates link in the top-left of the screen, it will find the new content pack.

It's fantastic!

Thanks for the reply Nick. I have a brand new HP Pavilion with Vista Ultimate and it is registered. I've installed the latest drivers from Nvidia so I was wondering if that prevented downloads from Windows Update. The dreamscene is awesome and I really want the new content. Still not available though.

Hi, David,

I've seen some slowdowns using different programs. The worst offender here is Hold 'Em. Video graphic constantly fails and repairs, making the game unplayable. I'm pretty sure it's a video driver issue, so I'm hoping an updated driver is available soon.

If you want to report directly, head to http://connect.microsoft.com. Not only can you report a bug there, but others can validate it as long as you make it 'public.' All that's needed is a Live ID.

Hey Nick,

How can we give feedback to the team on the DreamScenes? I've run into an interesting hicup where if you are watching a video in a resized Windows Media Center window at the same time a Dream is running in the background, the dream will run fine but the WMC video playback will suffer unless you pause the dream, then WMC playback is fine.

Hi Nick,

When I try to install the content pack, The update failed with error code 8007000B. Now, no updates will install. They all fail with the above error code. I am hoping that you can send this to the right people as I cannot find anything to help in the knowledgebase.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Nick, thanks for your comment. I wasn't writing about sleep however, but about the screen saver not kicking in. I am currently playing with some of the advanced settings of the balanced power mode, to see what works for me.

I've tried all week to download this content, and everytime I run Windows Update it tells me no updates are available. Yes, I have Ultimate. What's the deal with that?

Hey Condor: In some cases, high CPU usage can prevent sleep. The good news is that since DreamScene pauses when the screensaver kicks in, most machines will still go to sleep as usual. If you don't want a screensaver but want to run DreamScene and have your machine go to sleep, you can adjust the "forbid sleep" CPU threshold in the Power Options control panel.
