I'm sad that you felt you had to fork out $200 to BestBuy to put XP onto your Vista based machine. The problem may not be due solely to Vista but due to software/hardware conflict. In other words the PC manufacturer may be partially to blame.

In your situation I would have contacted the PC manufacturer first to see if that is the case, and see if there are any system updates that may have solved the problem... Or if they know theres a problem and are working to fix it.

Just remember that Vista will only improve with time, but as with all new things early adopters will discover the occasional software/hardware bug.

If it is infact an error on the PC manufacturers end, you could then try to get a refund for Microsoft for the copy of XP you purchased through the Microsoft North American Retail Product 45-Day Refund Policy

(I'll post the web address when I find it)

Don't quote me on that though, as I dont work for Microsoft, and there are some exclusions e.g. OEM copys of software do not qualify. Ofcourse I doubt best buy will refund the installation charges if they charged you a service fee.

Best Buy is stating that its because Microsoft did not give the stores a "heads up" on the operating system. We purchased this system on 2-17-07. I have been on the phone or in the store with the tower everyday! Well today is the last day! They switched out the tower and are checking it over, so I am picking it up at lunch. However, I have asked them to DUMP VISTA and I am paying another $200.00 to have them install Windows XP, until Bill Gates gets off his butt and fixes all of these problems!!

I suggest that, with future upgrades, that you let the stores have a month or so to work out all of the bugs, before that start selling the hardware to the public!!!

Jennie
