I've discoverd that "Microsoft Update" can break the Utimate Extras as well. If I turn on the feature where Windows Update looks for updates to other Microsoft software I don't get any Ultimate Extras and the optional downloads are missing as well. When I turn off that feature the Ultimate Extras reappear along with the optional updates. It would seem there are some bugs in the Windows Update system that have yet to be worked out.

yeh, this for all those people having problems with ultimate extras apperaing,

1) you must have a LEGAL version of vista ultimat (dare i need to say it)

2) go to run and type 'services.msc'

3) look for 'windows Update' and stop the service

4) go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistrubution and move all the filesto a folder on your desktop.

(you may need to disable user account control)

5) restart the 'Windows Update' service

6) search for updates, restart (if nessary) and ultimate extras should be there

p.s. this worked for me, but its not my method. if something should go wrong, move the foles from the desktop back. if everything goes right, delete the files on the desktop.

Hey Erick / kacang: remember that as as noted above, you must have the Englsh language pack (also known as "English MUI pack") installed in order for these Extras to show up in Windows Update.

Nick, Hope the RTm version to come soon, I have ultimate OEM running, but my windows update used to show the dreamscene and bitlocker in windows update, but for some reason they disappeared a few days ago. Wondingin if you guys are in process of updating the ultimate extra downloads or if my windows update is screwed...

Sidebar Geek, thank for your reply. That's exactly what I had done some weeks back now. I poseted my questions to the Ulimate Team, but never got a reply. I guess they've got more to do than to answer my questions.

I'm in the market for a new video card and would appreciate any input that anyone might have on how to figure out the maximum texture size so that I can insure DremeScene will work in my multi-monitor setup.

CT, Nick doesn't work on the Ultimate Team so I don't think he's the right person to ask those questions too. You should head over to the Windows Ultimate blog and post your questions and use their contact feature to send feedback to the Ultimate Team regarding DreamScene: http://www.windowsultimate.com

Also: keep in my that DreamScene is very much a "preview" that is in beta - meaning there are bugs.

Hi! I sent you guys an email about this and never heard back. I didn't know there was a blog for this.

Anyway, I'm having the same problem with DreamScene on my desktop as I've got 3 monitors. 2 are at 1600x1200 and one is at 1280x1024. If I turn off the 3rd monitor (1280x1024) or lower the res on one of the other monitors then DreamScene works on all three monitors, but takes up quite a bit of CPU to do so.

A couple of questions for you:

1 - The link you posted,

http://ultimate/extras/dreamscene.aspx#multimon, doesn't work. Can you you fix it?

2 - Is there a way or can there be a way to configure DreamScene to work on selected monitors? I know this would be a tough one, but would really be useful for those of us with multiple monitors.
