My HTC 6800 will sometimes connect to my computer and other times will not. Seems to work randomly.

Any thoughts?

hi, i have been returning to this post to see if there has been any progress made in enabling WMDC sync to windows contacts and windows calendar but have not seen any current comments. has this feature been added yet? thanks

Hello, I'm currently using Vista Ultimate, and have a new Blackberry Pearl. I know there are some issues with sync and the blackberry desktop software. It crashes on me.

I installed WDMC, followed the instructions, however WMDC doesn't seem to detect my phone. It stays with the "not connected" on the screen.

Should I unstall BB Desktop first? Any help is appreciated thanks!

I have a question, we've designed our own PDA and we had the installer so that our USB PID&VID would be recognized by XP, however we we run our installer, the driver does not install. Our PDA runs on Windows CE5.0 and we are using basic USB functionnality. Is there a "WMDC" driver developer guide?

I have a problem. I just upgraded my Cingular 8125 to an ATT 8525. When I connected the device to my computer it prompts me for the password and then the autoplay prompts to Sync media using media player, open device or import pictures. I have a problem with an ipaq 2490 running wm5 through vista ultimate and wmdc 6.1

Basically wmp11 and media centre are not picking up the ipaq. WMDC syncs fine for contacts, calendars, tasks and emails.

Device manager shows the ipaq under usb connections and also portable devices, but thats about as far as it goes.

Really annoying as I want to sync recorded tv shows and mp3 files.

I have been a MS fan for 15 years but I am constantly amazed at the oversight of obvious computer conveniences. I would not have released Vista until it seamlessly coordinated with all parts of itself. I had hopes Vista might be as integrated as the MAC. It has some great features and is pretty stable! But overlooking syncing of Windows Mobile 5 devices (I have a DASH) and native Vista Mail, Calendar and Schedule is unfathomable! I would like to be on the BETA project for any attempts to get that going. I feel MS owes the Vista owners that upgrade along with an apology.

Hey MarvinK: the folks in the Mobile & Embedded Devices Division are aware of the concerns you've expressed and are looking at ways to evolve WMDC to support scenarios based on needs such as these. No hard plans or dates are in place yet, however.

It is definitely disappointing that we don't have a solution for Windows Contacts or Calendar sync yet. I mean, I can buy a BlackBerry Pearl to replace my outdated Windows Mobile phone for cheaper than I can buy Outlook 2007--and for a LOT cheaper than a new Windows Mobile phone AND Outlook 2007.

BlackBerry's sync software supports a wide range of software--including Outlook Express and even SyncML and ASCII for flexibility. Unless Microsoft supports their own non-business contact clients, they need to start including Outlook with new phones again.

It makes it almost impossible for us non-Outlook users to justify a Windows Mobile purchase over Microsoft's competitors. What would be really funny is if the iPhone supported Windows Contacts/Calendar and Outlook Express before Microsoft got around to it.

I've been fighting a Cingular 8525 and WMDC for a few weeks now. I have changed the settings in the device as outlined in the blog but I'm unable to get it to sync. I can get other devices to sync and I can get the 8525 to sync to another PC (XP with AS4.5).

I'm open to suggestions...

Your email appears to be invalid. Please contact me at dcinput@microsoft.com. I'd like to know exactly what problem you are seeing. Are you able to check Calendar and Contacts when creating a partnership? Have you first configured your Outlook so it has a profile?
