Vista Business is comparable to XP Pro, just as Home Premium is comparable to XP MCE. Vista Ultimate is a combination of both.

Thanks for getting back to us about that, Nick. I have my doubts about that reply, because whereas I could get XP Pro for about €350 last year, I'm paying €550 for Vista Ultimate now. That's some super-fast inflation. Then again, it could depend on which version of Vista could be considered comparable to XP Pro. Obviously, the less complete versions are cheaper.

Anyway, thanks again for the effort, and for getting back to us about that.

Hey James__, et al: I've conferred with the colleagues of mine responsible for pricing and have learned that in each locale throughout the world, Windows Vista is close in price to what customers would have paid for Windows XP. To more directly answer your question, yes, you can buy Windows Vista from a US retailer and use it in the UK without fear of functionality issues.

Sorry, but what's the big deal here? Just a bunch of hype. I've ordered my copies of Vista online, although I had hoped to get a free copy, or a discount, or something for all those bug reports I filled out testing the betas. Oh well. . .

Got my invitation e-mail, yesterday and it has a link to all the stores and addresses in the city's that have the Vista party in the stores.

In the "Multiple Announcements Today" post, Nick assured us that he's looking into it and will get back to us when he gets the full story from the Program Manager: "Please bear with me as I will post them as soon as I'm able."

That was last week. I'm sure he'll be able to get back to us soon. Meanwhile, my local Microsoft office has been less than responsive to my contacting them. They -really- don't seem to care.

Anyway, I'd also like a definite answer to the questions posted above. Will we be able to simply buy the US version (and possibly download a localised MUI)?
