Hopefully, together, we'll be able to make this the best Windows deployment ever!

I have used ImageX and Windows PE to make an image of my Windows Vista RC1 installation. It worked really well. It only took 2 - 3 hours to prepare the image and install onto a separate machine.

However when I upgraded my installation to Vista RC2 and image that, I failed on every single attempt. The problem however is that I recieved a different error each time I attempted to image the installation. The error is as follows:

[Error: 577] C:\WIMA44A.tmp [ResourceExtractToFileByStruct seq. 70> -> Incorrect hash while verifying hash]

[Error: 2] C:\ProgramData\Microsoft Help\MS.MSDNQTR.v80.en-1033-MKWD-F.HXW

Error imaging drive

The system cannot find the file specified

Each time I attempt to image the installation the file that it is trying to find changes. I am beginning to think that Vista RC2 can't be imaged.

What is the reason for this error?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Take a Vista machine. In my case, a Ghost image to beta test a piece of software. Rebuild the machine to a base Vista image. Now install a new video card. What happens? You get a new screen that states the winload.exe craps out at 0xc000000e. You have to get you Vista disk and repair. OK.. but try this.. install the old video card and what happens-- You get the same error message Why?

If you repair the machine once, every time you boot the machine you have to repair the machine again.

Also, the custom installers take a lot of time. Take for instance, .NET Framework 2.0/3.0, IE7 and WMP11. None of these are MSI-based and although admin/deploy kits are provided, installation still takes a way lot of time on downlevel clients.
