Partners helping fix Vista Software Compatibility Issues

When chatting with people about the deployment of Windows Vista within their organisation, one of the topics that comes up is software compatibility.  It's a no brainer that their business applications continue to work whilst they are enjoying the benefits and features of Windows Vista.  Microsoft have worked hard to ensure  we had a large number of software vendors ready to offer their software as "Certified for Windows Vista" or "Works with Windows Vista".  These certifications mean that either software is designed specifically to take advantage of new features in Windows Vista or is compatible with Windows Vista.

Whilst these certifications go along way to answer questions about software compatibility, there are still bespoke software solutions or legacy applications that might not have been tested by Microsoft to gain the certification.  For businesses in this situation there are a range of tools that will help test the compatibility of applications on Windows Vista.  Microsoft provide a great toolset, for instance, called the Application Compatibility Toolkit which is worth checking out for the analysis of your software portfolio.

Our partners have also taken the initiative when it comes to application compatibility testing and fixing of issues.  ChangeBase, a company based in London, England have recently launched their new software "AOK" which analyses applications and then fixes any issues that might cause problems, leaving you with the green light to get on with your deployment.  They recently published a press release highlighting the great work they have been doing with AstraZeneca who have roughly 70,000 desktops across 60 countries.  You can find out more information about ChangeBase and the application compatiblity software at their website.

I have been told by an Adobe "insider" that there is a bug in Vista's color management that printer manufacturers in particular are trying to get Microsoft to fix. Is that true and, if so, is any fix in sight?

Whoops, forgot to say that the "bug" purportedly involves double color management when printing. Any truth to that?

Wanted to let you know that "myrefresher.com" a pretty cool tool that works great with XP will crash Vista after about 4 hours or so of running, such as to refresh a blog, etc.  Windows ICONS disappear, clock stops, start button won't bring up start menu and the task bar at the bottom disappears. Fun fun fun. Finally figured out that is what was doing it. Please send to whoever is working on service pack 1 or the appropriate dept. Thanks.

Also was wondering if anyone knows why occasionally my speakers make a crackly electrical sound. Running new system with Vista 32 bit home premium. This is a replacement system, speakers and the tower totally replaced by Dell because they thought as did I , that my operating system was bad, but it turned out when I got the 2nd system when it did the same bizarre stuff, I figured out it was the refresher, within the first 21 days so they replaced it all. The speakers also replaced still make that cracklin noise even when not playing music. actually never jeard it while playing music. Have the Dell XPS 720

My topic wasn't premade for me- so here I am possibly in the wrong area for help.

PC WILL NOT STAY ASLEEP WHILE MONITOR DOES.

Does anyone out there in VistaLand know how to correctly activate the 'sleep' and or 'hibernation' features so that not only the monitor accepts the command?

Since I installed Vista Ultimate on my system I have to put in the password for my e-mail account every time I want to check for; or send a message (yes I tick remember password every time I use it). Also a few programs are coming up as unregistered every time I use them, I'll put in the reg code; the program accepts it and it comes up as a registered product but the next time I use it; it comes up again as unregistered. Presumably these faults are related in some way.  Not holding out much hope of any assistance here; as Greg54 rightly says, there's not many answers on here!

Say what is taking so long. We Vista users need a good fix for the incompatibility of Flash Player and Vista.  I have read so many sites of quick fixes THAT DON'T WORK.

I am getting frustrated and am already sorry I bought a new computer with Vista installed. YOu are driving us right into the arms of Mac.  Is that what you really want???????????
