Welcome to The Windows Blog

Announcing the Windows Experience Blog

You may have noticed a small change in the look of our blog today in the addition of "The Windows Experience" label to the header above the Windows Vista News section.  As you will surely surmise, today we're launching a new sister blog to compliment the Windows Vista Team blog; and, of course, this new blog will be called The Windows Experience.  The new blog will be managed by my colleague Brandon LeBlanc and will document his use of Windows Vista in various scenarios (think hi-def video, photography, virtualization, networking, etc), using video and photos to convey his experiences as much as possible.

The aim of the two blogs is to jointly illustrate the what, why and how of Windows Vista while continuing to generate conversations about the product and respond to the questions and concerns of you, the community.  So not to worry, the existing Team blog's reason for being and my role in it do change.

We're excited about this new development and hope you will be, too.  Your comments are always welcome, so feel free to let us know what you think as we move forward (once we've got some material on the new blog, that is).  In the meantime, please join me in welcoming Brandon and head over to the new Windows Experience blog to check out his initial post.

what about comparing scenarios in vista, with the same scenarios in xp to make it easier for people (inclusive me) to see the difference between vista and xp in everyday use

niklas, good idea on comparing scenerios. Maybe we'll do that :-)

As for NVIDIA graphic cards - with the drivers from Windows Update - my GeForce 7300 GT works just fine.

Speaking of eXPerience, try searching for "file copying slow Vista" using Live Search or Google. They maybe MS will acknowledge that Vista is RC3.

Great news, more discussion is good.

The only thing I wish about Vista is that you could customize it to look more like XP.

Not because I care for myself, but my wifes Grandmother wants a new Laptop, and she gets real confused with even basic user interface changes.  So having Vista on her new machine will literally be a nightmare due to the interface changes in IE6 and Vista.  I know the changes arent that dramatic, but its a shame that you cant revert back so that people like my wifes grandmother can stay with what they know and are used to.

Hey newscientist2000:  note that you can turn off Aero glass and revert to the Standard UI theme:  http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/windowsvista/archive/2006/07/06/440510.aspx.

Searching for help. I have been using a new computer with Vists basic for two weeks. It continues to be a disaster. After searching web sites, blogs, using available phone tech support I am at a loss. Many of the web sites and blogs I find are technical information sites far above my average user questions or needs. I just want a computer that runs smoothly, and quickly like XP did. Without bemoaning the facts, just two examples. Reboot takes nine minutes. Opening something simple, Word, might happed in five seconds or thirty.

PS. Your contact form would not accept Name or Email? I hope I see something that can help.
