Zune software and firmware 1.3 update

Earlier this week, the Zune Team released an update to the Zune client software and Zune device firmware.  Some of the major improvements include fixing a skipping problem affecting content acquired from the Zune Marketplace, and FM tuner changes to prevent battery drain.  Also with this release come device and software reliability and performance improvements.

The relevant point here is that the release was delivered via Windows Update, which detects the new Zune software and advises you to install it (assuming you have chosen to get updates via Windows Update, which is advisable).

Zune 1.3-1     Zune 1.3-2

You'll soon see more MS applications putting to use the power of Windows Update for distributing software releases.

So this update basically fixes the things that should have not been broken when the unit was released...

When do we get a similar update for Vista?

mgillespie-you might want to look at your hardware and do some upgrades. I have been running Vista for quite some time and have had zero issues. Keep up the great work Microsoft.

    I have a Core 2 Duo T6600, 2GB RAM and a Gefore 7800 Gfx card, Asus P5B mobo.

That's pretty up to date.  And Vista runs like a sack of sh1t.  Seriously how long should it take to open Control Panel, not 10 seconds..  Win2k used to take a few hundred ms.

    Vista performance is REALLY poor.

Vista Ultimate Core 2 Duo T6600, 2gb Ram, EXGA 7950 Video Card, Asus P5B... Control Panel opens in less than 2 seconds. Vista performance is outstanding....

Sorry to here of your troubles ForeverDestiny.

Assuming you have a legit product key/copy of Windows and your reinstalling over the same machine you should be able to get a phone number by activating via a telephone... at least thats how it worked with XP.  If you had trouble activating via the net you would be forced to activate via the phone, then you would try over the phone and your key would be rejected and you would be transfered to a phone rep to explain to the rep that you have a legit copy etc....the phone rep can then activate Vista for you.

In my case I phoned up a rep like this once to complain that I had to reactivate Xp after installing a  piece of software that added a SCSI driver, and thus triggered XP into thinking I had changed my hardware config... even though I hadn't.

In your case your probably being flagged as having a used key as you just activated recently within the last 3 months right, and now your trying to activate again so you need to phone a telephone rep.  The regional phone number should be listed when you try to activate Vista via the phone.

Unfortunately I cant find the phone numbers right now, as Im not on Vista and the phone numbers do not seem to be posted online anywhere.

    Theres some useful info here:

    Hi ter4733!

Just remember when the XP appeard around 2002. All we had the same oppinion about XP that this is a horrible OS and all we said that Win 98 SE is much more better then XP. The situation is exactly the same, only the players (XP and Vista)have changed.

So be patient and every problem will be solved!
