Windows Ultimate Extra 'DreamScene' is available

Windows Vista Ultimate users may have noticed a nice little surprise today when checking for new Windows updates:  the Ultimate Extras Team has released a Technical Preview for Windows DreamScene.  You can get all the latest updates and information from the Ultimate Extras Team over at their Windows Ultimate site.

This Technical Preview currently includes a single DreamScene -- an animated version of Windows Vista's default wallpaper.  You can of course expect more DreamScenes to become available in future releases of Ultimate Extras.

    Hi Xepo,

    Couple things:

http://dream.wincustomize.com is simply a community site where people can share their animated wallpapers.

Secondly, Microsoft may only be including 1 dreamscene with the preview but they have over a dozen very high quality ones they're holding back on until the final release.

Third, with regards to DeskScapes and .dream files, you should check out thi8s thread http://www.wincustomize.com/articles.aspx?aid=144274

Stardock DeskScapes extends DreamScene to support dynamic content, triggers, etc.

BTW, WinCustomize.com doesn't share personal information with anyone. And said prsonal information is no more than what is required to join say WindowsVistaBlog.com

    About the site "dream.wincustomize.com":

    - registering is not necessary (download limit will be 20Mb)

    - after registering (limit will be 100Mb)

    - want more: pay $19.95 for 1 year

Hope this clears things for "a custom wrapper around the wmv or mpeg" with time triggers.

    (thank you Xepo).

Thanks Nick. You said 'will', so that confirms that the preview version doesn't support it.

Works fine, when I disable the second monitor.

More information for simonharding:  We are currently investigating how to allow WSUS admins to offer Extras, but note that as of now, users who are part of managed environments may see a different set of Extras packages offered them than those whose computers ping the Microsoft-managed Extras service system (you may also see different Windows Update services, such as driver updates, etc).

I installed DreamScene on my brand new Vista laptop and BOOM, it broke my video card. I get strange random pixels all over the screen, even BEFORE I enter Windows (i.e. during boot up and even in the BIO setting screen) so it is NOT a video driver issue. I had to send the laptop back to the manufacturer for a replacement video card. Needless to say, I'm not very happy with what DreamScene did to my computer!

Hey LiveGadgets:  this blog is not the best place to seek support; I'd suggest you check out the public Windows Vista newsgroups.
