Windows Ultimate Extra 'DreamScene' is available

Windows Vista Ultimate users may have noticed a nice little surprise today when checking for new Windows updates:  the Ultimate Extras Team has released a Technical Preview for Windows DreamScene.  You can get all the latest updates and information from the Ultimate Extras Team over at their Windows Ultimate site.

This Technical Preview currently includes a single DreamScene -- an animated version of Windows Vista's default wallpaper.  You can of course expect more DreamScenes to become available in future releases of Ultimate Extras.

    Hi folks,

    If you don't see DreamScene in Ultimate RTM, you just need to download and install english langage pack. (no need to switch to/activate english, BTW)

    Bye

    I tried DreamScene last night but ended up uninstalling it. Bummer, because I was psyched about it and have been waiting for Motion Desktop since the betas. The problem I had with it is its tendency to stutter upon anything I do. For example, if I open the Documents folder, it stutters. I defrag every night, and I have few things in my docs folder. This machine scores 4.5 WEI.

    Hey schindler:  if you are only running the German language pack, you won't see DreamScene until we release the Extras localized for German in the very near future.  The work-around is to install the English language pack -- then you will be able to see and download DS.

    Chus!

    This is driving me mad! I do not see the option to download the dreamscene extra in windows update. I am in the UK with English Language set as default. My partners PC next to mine received it two days ago. Repeatedly tried checking for updates - but nothing. The last update received two days ago was one for Outlook 2007 Junk Mail Filter. My partner received this update too, plus the dreamscene ultimate extra at the same time. Oh and yes I have a legal copy of Vista Ultimate. I also notice that the previous optional updates (language packs) are no longer showing as potential downloads. Is my Windows Update system fried?

    @Simonharding:

    I've hard from someone else having the same problem that you should turn off "Microsoft Update" in your update settings and then check for updates again. Microsoft Update is for getting Office updates, etc.

    DreamScene does not work with dual monitors?

    I get a "Windows DreamScene cannot run because the total desktop size exceeds the primary video adapter's maximum texture size".

    @ jtherrien

    Hallelujah! Thanks, that worked a treat.

    I thought Microsoft Update was supposed to let you get Windows and Office updates, not just Office! I suspect there is more than a few people having the same problem!
