Same as "bigbomb_i", I have a HP iPAQ H6315 running on Pocket PC 2003 and an HP L2005US notebook runing on Vista with WMDC 6, I can sync using USB but when I try to do it through bluetooth it doesn't work. I click on bluetooth manager on my PPC and then click active sync via bluetooth it finds my notebook and when I click on it it says "Service dicovery was unsuccessful. The requested service is not running on this device. Please make sure the service is enabled on the device or select another one to continue." My computer and PPC discover each other. The only thing is that WMDC doensn't work through bluetooth. Where can I enable the bluetooth services on Vista as I do with the old Bluetooth manager?

    Thanks

Thanks for everyone's comments and questions.  Please post your issues on the newsgroup, microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesync.  That is the best way to get online support currently.

    Thanks!

I am in the business of making chips that enable Certified Wireless USB.

This means my portable device should be able to synch with my PC whenever it comes close. Just think USB speeds at USB distances without the wires. You wouldn’t have to take your phone out of your pocket in order for it to synch with the PC.

Wireless USB should make portable devices easier to use with PCs. I wish the software was easier to use.  In the future, I’d like to have a mode where an image of my phone just pops up on the desktop. I should be able to operate it using the mouse, and I’d like to be able to drag and drop between devices when appropriate.

This would make the next generation of phones very cool.

Ok so this is for anyone having problems connecting a Pocket PC 2003 based PDA to ActiveSync via bluetooth.  I have an ipaq h5550 and could not figure out why I kept getting the "service not detected error".  The problem is that the older pocket pc's use a virtual bluetooth port that is basically a COM serial port.  I'm not sure if that explanation is exactly right but anyways it can be worked around.

    Step 1:

connect your pda via bluetooth to your pc by just adding a bluetooth device.  This should create COM ports for your PDA on the PC (incoming/outgoing).  Do this by opening up "Bluetooth devices" and going through the process of adding a device.  Then in the bluetooth devices click on the "COM Ports" tab and make note of which COM port is assigned to "incoming" for your PDA.

    Step 2:

Open up the registry editor and go to this path:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/Windows CE Services

Click on the Windows CE Services icon and look for the string value labeled "SerialPort".  It should currently have either "infrared" or Bluetooth" under the "data" column.  Simply change this value to the "incoming" COM port assigned to your PDA (mine is COM4).  Then just give your computer a restart and you should be good to go just like if you were using the older activesync program.

Is there any update on the issue of not supporting windows mail/contacts/caledar? I think Microsoft is doing a great job and producing quality Software/Hardware. I know you have a dedication to your large business following but don't forget your personal users and enthusiasts I am currently downloading a trial of Office 2007 in hopes that I can use it to sync with my new Tmobile Dash.

Currently there isn't a way to sync Windows Mail, Contacts and Calendar in Windows Vista to a Windows Mobile device unfortunately. No update in regards to making this happen any time soon or in the future either.
