Windows Mobile Device Center RTMs!

The Windows Mobile Device Center team is happy to announce the official launch of Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) for Windows Vista.  Thank you to all our customers for downloading Beta 3 and sending the team feedback.   The link to the download site is here.  The RTM build will also be available as an update via Windows Update by the end of the week.

Please read the instructions on the download site carefully.  It is recommended that you uninstall any previous version of WMDC and the WMDC driver update before installing WMDC RTM.

I'm installing this on my laptop now! Thanks, I hope it will be automatic when my last system is upgraded to Windows Vista (Need to buy one last licence).

This works great with my Treo 750v on my 32-bit laptop, but my 64-bit desktop will not install the device and states i should contact my device manufacturer. I've contacted Palm and will let you know of the outcome.

You might be able to deliver new features for Vista but you can deliver, in Europe, " Express Windows Vista Upgrade " upgrades...whne are you going to sort this out?

Hey Lone Shepherd:  my understanding is that we'll begin seeing in-market devices the latter half of this calendar year.

Just got the Mobile Device Center working (Was having some problems with Live Onecare for a little while there.)

One problem I'm having, I don't have Outlook. I've been using Windows Calendar as my main calendar program, and I'd love to sync my phone contacts with Windows Contacts. Is this possible? Will it be possible with future updates? Thanks for the great work!

Anyone know how to get this installed on Vista Business N?

I accidentally posted this in an older WMDC post. I'll put it here since this blog entry is about RTM.

Why don't you support Windows Contacts and Windows Calendar? The device center is meant to be an integral part of the Operating System, correct? So are Contacts and Calendar, right? Why would you require a third party application be purchased to take advantage of this? Wasn't the idea of Windows Contacts and Windows Calendar so that people didn't have to store this information in separate places?

Also, Device Center is very misleading. Upon my first connection to my Cingular 3125, Device Center makes it seem as if it is syncing with Windows Contacts and Windows Calender (the checkboxes are checked), while E-mail and tasks display, "Outlook not installed."

Yeah I second that. PLEASE SUPPORT WINDOWS CALENDAR, WINDOWS CONTACTS AND WINDOWS MAIL.
