Gaming Hotness for Windows Vista

As the holidays approach and you find yourself with a little extra time to kill (who am I kidding??), check out one of the ~750 Games for Windows kiosks placed at local GameStop stores.  The kiosks show off some pretty impressive games for PCs that will look downright spectacular on Windows Vista using DX10.  I took a photo of one of them placed on display here in MS' Building 3:

You can expect stores like Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Circuit City and others to have re-branded Games for Windows sections following Windows Vista's retail general availability.

Also, drop by the Games for Windows site to find out about the latest in gaming on Windows (it's a pretty cool site).

The good news is that the Creative ALchemy Project allows you to run your favorite DirectSound3D games on Windows Vista as the developers intended - with full hardware accelerated 3D Audio and EAX support! This is done by translating DirectSound calls into OpenAL. In order for this to happen, a couple of files need to be installed into each game directory. This is handled automatically by the ALchemy installer - but can also be performed manually by advanced users.
