Hey, Look at These! Ship Party Photos

Photos from our RTM ship party on Wednesday ... there were over 2K balloons in the room (at least, before everyone started popping them).

Man that has to be a great feeling to get Vista out to the public. Even after all the bashing the press has had against MS, it still is a rock solid product.

I thought we had big parties when finished one of our products - can't imagine how big it is at MS when a new version of Windows is released!

Here's to hoping then when the MSDN subscriber downloads come back Vista RTM is on there! Thanks for all the hard work!

maybe this isnt the place to ask this, but here it is: ive read off some sites that there isnt a boot screen in vista. is this true? and if it is, will you eventually add one?

Hey jin liu:  not sure where that info came from, as Windows Vista does indeed have a boot screen.

I know this isn't really the place to ask, but Hardware-related blog posts are far and between.. Any news on that Vista-branded widescreen that Samsung was supposed to be making? With Vista nearly on our doorsteps, I'm wondering if this is still in the pipelinea and worth holding off a new monitor purchase for.

Is Vista going to be available for download anytime soon or do I have to wait until the 30th? I noticed all of the Office 2007 is available but Vista is not.

    Thanks

Hey flyboy30030@hotmail.com:  I'll let you know more about downloads for beta testers, MSDN, etc as soon as our plan in final.

Hey Bas Paap:  Afraid I've nothing to share on this topic.  I'm thinking you're better off keeping an eye on the Samsung Web site and other forums dedicated to monitors/peripherals, etc.

    Hey, Nick and Jim,

I've e-mailed you my concern about a problem, but now I'll tell you a short version here, in case you spot this first, as I perceive it should be handled ASAP, so that maybe it won't be too late.

I hope there's still time to fix this annoyance before you go out and press this to discs! Or if those are already unfortunately under way, I hope we can interrupt that and still make an edit for the rest of the discs.

Vista's current Start Menu categories for Internet Explorer and Windows Mail (and XP's and maybe others', too, with Outlook Express) has this problem that makes it look like (that some people might wrongly think) e-mail isn't actually part of the internet, though it really IS. You put IE alone under Internet, and then separate e-mail as if it weren't part of internet.

I don't want more people thinking this wrong thing, because if I hear that, it's really annoying! Will you please fix this logical bug annoyance by recategorizing those so that IE and e-mail both list under Internet as a main category, and then maybe add a subcat. for IE, maybe like "Web Browsing," and then maybe even add another sub for Windows Messenger called Instant Messaging?

Or will you, at the very least, remove the category heading for Internet Explorer (so that it doesn't imply that only IE belongs to internet while e-mail is supposedly separate [since they belong together]), please?

Will you edit that in all the languages, and keep that new format for all Vistas versions and any families of Windows to come after Vista, please?

If it's too late for initial disc pressing, can you interrupt the pressing for a bit to edit this and then send the fixed version out and then resume, or if you won't do that for whatever reason, can it this fix at least be a side-item that happens to be included with your first security update or service pack?

    Thanks,

    "Maxx Fordham"
