Announcing New Packaging for Windows Vista and 2007 Office System

With Windows Vista and 2007 Office system, we didn't just redesign the software packages themselves, but are also introducing new packaging for the two products.  The packaging has been completely revised and, we hope, foreshadows the great experience that awaits you once you open it.  Check out the photos below.

2007 Office – Home & Student

Designed to be user-friendly, the new packaging is a small, hard, plastic container that’s designed to protect the software inside for life-long use.  It provides a convenient and attractive place for you to permanently store both discs and documentation.

The new design will provide the strength, dimensional stability and impact resistance required when packaging software today.  Our plan is to extend this packaging style to other Microsoft products after the launch of Windows Vista and 2007 Office system.

    Wow! I must say, I'm very very impressed by this; excellent job guys.  -This is coming from a Mac user :D  But seriously, I'm glad you guys chose to try something new instead of continuing with the old oversized paper boxes.  Also awesome job on keeping it clean, I mean compared to the usual style in which Microsoft designs all its boxes this is very nice and minimal - hopefully no silly retailer will cover this box with a bunch of ugly "SALE" "5% OFF" stickers like they usually do.  Again, awesome job guys

    On topic: So Nick, you don't know if official testers will be getting these, just like with other major milestone media?

    Hey Ryan:  there's often a delay in images showing up due to replication across the server cluster; also, make sure you're not viewing a cached page.

    Not sure on the Beta testers question, that'd be one for your program admin to field.

    Great Links Ryan the box design is pretty straight forward, I dont think to many people will get confused between the boxes based on their colour.  Maybe Home and Home Premium because they're both green.

    Ryan for my shark avatars resolution is 66 x 63 pixels and 2.17kb jpeg, a Windows XP user account pic is 48 x48 pixels so perhaps thats what you should shoot for to start with then work up.
