Straight From the Horse’s Mouth -- Windows Media Center on Windows Vista

For an entire week (through next Tuesday 22nd), Windows Media Center Program Managers will be participating in the Windows Vista Beta Program Media Center newsgroups, so now’s the time to get out your list of burning questions and get them answered by the people who know.  There’s sure to be some lively dialogue and you’ll probably find answers to things you didn’t even know you were wondering about!

You can get to the Windows Vista Media Center Web forum by clicking here, or point your NNTP client to microsoft.public.windows.mediacenter if you're old-school like me.

I have looked everywhere to try and find a place to post this question and I'm sorry if this isn't the place but its the closest thing I could find.

I want to know if I will be able to a fresh install of vista ultimate by purchasing the upgrade version.  I own microsoft windows xp professional UPGRADE and a qualifying product that I was able to upgrade to xp professional from.  (WIN 98 SE)

Basically I currently own WIN 98SE full, XP Pro Upgrade, and I want to purchase Windows Ultimate Upgrade when it becomes available but I want to be able to do a fresh install of it.

Will this be possible with the products I own.  I have searched the internet up and down and asked around on forums and no one has been able to help.  Please try to help.

    Thanks

Hey derek987: Sounds like you want to effect a clean install of Windows Vista Ultimate but by only using the upgrade.  I'm not sure that that'll be possible, as what you're describing is essentially a contradiction in terms.  Nevertheless, keep an eye on this blog, as we'll have much more news on upgrading as we get closer to the product launch date.

I am also not sure if this is the place to post but here goes.  I have just upgraded to windows vista and the media center was working perfectly when I started.  Now it won't launch.  The program appears to still be there in ehshell.  I have looked everywhere to see if I could reinstall just the media center but with no success.  Can you send me in the right direction.
