Welcome

Good day, Paul Cooke here.

It’s great to be hosting the all new Windows Security Blog. For the last couple of years, we have been talking about what has made Windows Vista the most secure client operating system Microsoft has ever delivered over on the Windows Vista Security Blog. Now, as we start talking about Windows 7 and look for opportunities to discuss relevant security topics in a broader sense, we felt it was a good time to re-launch and re-locate the blog here as part of the Windows Blog.

The purpose of this blog is to make you aware of all the things that go into having a secure Windows environment. This will cover the gamut from Windows XP all the way through the upcoming Windows 7. We plan to post updates regularly and add some variety with guest posters throughout the security space here at Microsoft.

No matter if you are making the move from our old Windows Vista Security Blog or you are joining us for the first time, we welcome you and look forward to your comments. We will work hard to carry on great discussions with all of you!

    GREETINGS!

    1.

    SECURITY BREACHES:

WINDOWS 6, VISTA Prone to frequent and VERY SERIOUS "CLICK-JACKING" security breaches!

RESULTING IN LOSING COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE COMPUTER to the CLICK-JACKING attacks!

THE "Clicker/Pointer" disappers from view, runs rabid, helter-skelter!

    A Scenario:

    ADOBE FLASH PLAYER 10.xx.xx.xx.

"A SCRIPT IN THIS movie / video clip IS CAUSING Adobe Flash Player v10.xx TO RUN SLOWER".  [AFP10 running within IE8rc1].

"IF IT CONTINUES TO RUN, YOUR COMPUTER MAY BECOME UNRESPONSIVE".

"DO YOU WANT TO ABORT THE SCRIPT?"

    [ YES ]

    [ NO ].

    --- ---

NOTE:  Related to this above mentioned case.

In the IE8rc1, TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES [folder] section, and in the arbitrary sub-folders, several hundreds to several thousands of 1 and 2 lines each of HTML codes have been observed [and quickly deleted/emptied], ostensibly enabling the triggering of these CLICK-JACKING ATTACKS!

    QUESTION:

IS IT NOT POSSIBLE TO VIEW, AND DEFUSE, SUCH OFFENDING SCRIPTS SOMEWHERE IN THE LIST OF APPLICATIONS SHOWN IN THE "Windows Task Manager" (TASKS / PROCESSES) LISTS?

What happened to the IE8rc1 Security Settings in which (paraphrasing) such unauthorized scripts running were DISABLED!

    2.  WINDOWS 6 VISTA -- IE8rc1 has blocked this site from using an ACTIVE-X Control in an UNSAFE manner.  As a result, this page may not display correctly.

THE window/PAGE:  FREEZES, "NOT RESPONDING", CRASHES, SHUTS DOWN, restarts.

THESE DEFICIENCIES seriously result in loss of hours of valuable productive time.

Sometimes, a task that would take a few minutes to accomplish, ends up taking two to three hours!

Even then, attempting to preserve and save the open tasks windows proves futile BECAUSE the IE8rc1 UNCEREMONIOUSLY CRASHES!

    EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!

I HOPE that somebody "BATTLEFIELD SMART" is "home" @ Wista [Vista] Security who cares about reducing the frictions and frustrations of users of MSFT products and willing to do good constructive work to remedy the DEFICIENCIES.

PLEASE REFRAIN from using "Juxtapositional Thesaurus antonym Verbiages" like:  Solid -- to describe something UNSTABLE.

Your english teachers are not going to be impressed with such flippancy.

With the resources and talent pools ["bandwidth" anyone] of an organization like MICROSOFT, products should be SMOOTH-SAILING, not be this frictiously counterproductive.

IF NOT, Let ME lead and demonstrate how to develop and deploy frictionless and frustrationless world-class products that make users and customers happy --

    with WOW!

THAT'S Just What and How I Wanted!

    BEST REGARDS!

    THE IE8rc1 SECURITY MECHANISM

    "DELETE BROWSING HISTORY"

that is supposed to CLEAR ALL Temporary Internet Files (TIFs), Cookies, History, Form Data, Passwords, In-Private Filtering Data ~ and File,

    DOES NOT CLEAR or DELETE

any of the hundreds and thousands of files that can populate in the TIFs folders during a browsing session!

These TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES (TIFs) have to be manually DELETED and EMPTIED folder by subfolder, one by one, using up enormous amount of valuable productive time!

As an ADMIN., when accessing the TIFs located in other Folders and sub-folders on "C:\" to DELETE manually, an ALERT appears:  "ACCESS DENIED".

Thereby not being able to CLEAR the ENTIRE browsing HISTORY Tracks.

    What are the solutions?

    THANKS and Best Regards!
