I am one of the developers of Windows Live Writer, and what you suggested is tricky. And would most likely require work from blog services, which usually doesn't happen as fast as we need it to.

Though, we do feel this is an area that needs improvement for the exact reason you have stated and we have made investments. Stay tuned... :)

I wish it allowed you to simply specify the URL to a particular blog post. Earlier today I needed to update a Blogger post from 2005, but short of getting it to download 500+ headers there is no way of doing that.

Hi,

Not only you can edit already posted items. You can also see the effect of a template, you can set publishing date, you can paste images directly.

It's a time saver for experienced bloggers, and a real help for new bloggers.

Windows Live Writer is getting better in every version. The current beta version is cool and a must have tool for every blogger!
