XP doesn't have anything convenient like that built in. Previewing files is pretty useful. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It's also nice to note that this is a feature Windows had before OS X. Though of course, it doesn't have the rich GUI goodness of Apple's &amp;nbsp;Quick Look, but it was first, and you can actually &amp;nbsp;interact with the file preview. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Thanks for that. &amp;nbsp;I had never noticed that option before.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Not that I had looked for it in Word. &amp;nbsp;I assumed that it was Vista that would create the thumbnail, not the parent program. &amp;nbsp;So I'm guessing text files are out of the mix then?&lt;/p&gt;

For Office 2007 this is found right in the save box while other versions of office should have it under save options or something similar.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Vista has been reinstalled a few times in the last year. &amp;nbsp;Under folder options, &amp;quot;Always show icons, never thumbnails&amp;quot; is unticked. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I had actually come to assume that Live Icons was a dropped feature when I couldn't figure out how to turn it on.&lt;/p&gt;
