Download the Windows Live Essentials Beta Refresh

Today, we’ve released a refresh of the Windows Live Essentials Betas. You can download the updated suite at download.live.com. The Windows Live Essentials consist of Messenger, Mail, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, Writer, Toolbar, and Family Safety.

We want to make sure we iron out all the kinks before removing the “beta” tags ;-)

Earlier this month, we rolled out the new Windows Live web services.

    @gcoupe

I am one of the developers of Windows Live Writer.  You are correct we don't support this right now.

Thank you for the feedback though!

Also, keep in mind that if you publish a photo album using the new version of WLW it will save the metadata when it uploads the pictures that are part of the album.

I'll keep your feature request in mind as we move into planning for our next release.

Why this italian page http://www.messenger.it/ shows the final version of Live Messenger 2009? Is it final or beta?

Still no Formfill for Toolbar. This makes toolbar useless for me

Im still complaining about not even having the option for icons but jt3204 makes an excellent point. The inability to assign color schemes to contacts for quick reference just makes no sense. Combined with the lack of icons it is almost as if the entire point is to make using the program more difficult by removing all visual references. I know thats not the ACTUAL point but it sure is frustrating in the same sense from a user standpoint. Please consider.

I actually JUST realized there is no send button in Messenger now. I don't typically use it but when I copy a link or drag something into the chat window, I like to just click send. Where the heck did the send button go?!

fooldog01, most people just press "Enter" on their keyboard. I never ever used the Send button. Just copy a link and press "Enter" or when you drag something else again - just press "Enter".

    Windows Live Communications Platform crashing

I've been experiencing this problem since the first build of WLM 2009.

The Windows Live Communications Platform suddenly crashes after I log in! A pop-up window appears and the only thing that I'm able to do is try to hide it aside, when i try to close the error window, the Messenger automatically signs-out and closes the application.

I've tried reinstalling it, I erased the contact's folder, I'm using the Windows XP theme, so it can't be that the problem.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

    Help will be apreciatted.

    Bring back icons in toolbars!

I maen, this is terrible! Whole computer UI had been going towards more and more icons, and now they are all removed in WL apps like WL Mail!

And not only do I think it's non-productive and irritating, I'm wondering how should I now explain some things to people that aren't used to computers AND don't understand foreign languages (?!?!?) How will I tell my mom that it's enough to click "big red X" to delete something, when there's no "bix red X" anymore? Or that it's enough to click left/right arrows for things to move "left & right"? Yeah, I'll have to teach her english probably.

So please, if anyone ever reads this - give us the icons back!

Leave options for text only, text&icons, and icons only.. PLEASE!

I have joined here just to write this msg, and I'll try to write the same in any WL/Microsoft related website.. and I have already seen A LOT of people saying the ame. Please don't force me to stay on XP and old software just because you can't listen to the people!

P.S. Btw, all my apps are configured as ICONS ONLY.. so not having icons AT ALL, and not even as AN OPTION AT VERY LEAST is a killer for me!
