Vista can't even get the CORRECT TIME! AMy wife informed me that "the time on the computers is wrong". "No, it updates itself every week, automatically. Then, I find that Vista has decided that www.time.gov is a dangerous site that should be BLOCKED because "THE PUBLISHER CAN'T BE VERIFIED !?!?!?!?!?!? And, Vista REFUSES to unblock the site. WHAT in God's name are you people THINKING?

Greg Madsen, Windows Vista will get the correct time from time.windows.com just fine.

Time update feature works fine... seems like a user specific issue rather than the operating system. I hope you are not trying to open it in a web browser, because that would just be dumb.

Ok, I don't get this.  How is it Mac can totally bash Vista on commercials and Microsoft not sue.  Sue them for false avertising or something.  I'm never had a problem with Vista - And I'm sure its NOT vista that won't let you get the correct time.  I hate stupid people who can't use computers or think they know everything about them.  Meanwhile they don't.  PS, usally the only time you will have problems is if your using a illegal copy.  I've installed and unistalled, played with Vista and MANY MANY other things that casual users don't do.  been infected with any number of viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, etc etc.  And let me tell you, Vista is STILL burning through all of that like it was butter.  Cheers to the Microsoft team...

Here are my Windows 7 PDC Build opinions:

    1. I love the large taskbar icons. As a side effect, it'll also force lazy app developers to developer larger sized high quality icons (48 x 48) at least. (Legacy apps will look *bad). But please keep the classic Start menu and classic Taskbar for sake of nostalgia, backward compatibility and decades of experience.

    2. The Start menu while clean is still cramped up for mouse use (when not using search). Please avoid the vertical scroll bar and make it wider and longer.

    3. Icons removed from apps isn't cool and clean, please put them back.

    4. Connection properties and status should be super-accessible like it was in Windows XP.

    5. Media Center should add DVB-C (QAM) (Digital cable in Europe and Asia) by RTM.

    6. All touch features should support styluses as well for the fingerprint conscious users with sweaty hands.

    7. Print jobs shouldn't get "stuck" (the years old problem), Windows should be responsive enough to communicate with the printer and delete the print job quickly if "stuck".

    8. Paint and WordPad should just have updated UIs. There should be solid new features as well to make people use the apps more.

    9. "Ease of Access" should support outputting everything in grayscale like OS X does for the color blind.

    10. NTBackup was *very* featureful. See en.wikipedia.org/.../NTBackup. Please add the features which Vista lost while the venerable NTBackup had.

I would LOVE to see a command-line mode with history in the new calculator. Why should a computer-based calculator forget what you did 2 steps ago? And build extensibility for the templates (or units for unit conversions). There might be a Microsoft template download site, but if I'm wanting a template for calculating isentropic flow properties or whatever, I'm out of luck.

Speaking of extensibility, I love how when you save your variables from PowerCalc, Microsoft couldn't just use plain text, they had to muddle the file with non-printing characters and stuff. What's so hard about using open, easily accessible standards? C'mon Microsoft...
