Test Updates Coming for the Windows 7 RC

Starting this Tuesday (May 12th) we will release up to ten test updates to PCs running the Windows 7 RC in order to verify our ability to deliver and manage updating of Windows 7 in certain real-life scenarios. These updates do not deliver any new features or fixes. This is the second set of test updates we’ve released to test the updating mechanism for Windows 7 - the first set were released on February 24.     Oh ya....one more thing... Start Menu-->Programs, is always missing...seems like a bug if there are many folders there... esp after upgrades or if you install back all the programs.

    Hope a fix will release in the this coming update~!!! Cheers!

    I haven't got internet at home. I tried the Activation phone number 1-888-725-1047, and it was a Bridget Eckleson.

    It's now busy. Any idea what the correct number is?

    India hung up on me when  I tried the regular 1-866-740-1256 number.

    HELP! I am running out of time to activate.

    I received two "test" updates. One was labled "optional" and the other "recommended".

    I also noticed some language packs that were available as well.  I didn't select them dor installation.  Are these the same language packs that were available for Office 2007?  I purchased a separate German language pack not too long after I got my new machine after Vista was released.  Should I go ahead and download the German language pack offered through Windows Update, or should I install the one I actually purchased fir using with Office 2007?

    Any fix coming for the Slide Show Background?  Ever since upgrading to the x64 RC version, Slide Show hasn't worked.

    I noticed that Windows update installed Office 2007 SP 1, then after an hour or so, wanted to install SP2. This evening, a couple of days after the initial SP1 and 2 updates, it now just installed Office SP1 and SP2 again.  The SP2 update was only 39 MB or so, much small than the initial SP2 update a couple of days ago.  What's up with that?

    How's Windows7 for those old PCs, cannot install the 855GME graphic driver correctly, always get the failed to the driver installation after the asked reboot.

    I think Window 7  is what Vista should have been.  I do like some of the new added features, like the multiple background themes and make custom themes very easily.  I did have to reinstall my printer driver and network driver after upgrading to Windows 7.  There is still a bit of a memory issue after having a computer running 24 hr.  About 24 hrs it seem to start being a ram hog.  It varies, but it can end up using close to 4 GB with little to nothing running.

    I do miss the side bar because the gadgets lined up  nicely. When lining up gadgets on the side can vary in gaps between each other is lined up horizontally.

    Regarding Anti-virus programs, I just installed Avast free home edition last night and it is working fine so far.  Will post comment if that changes.  Now regarding 7, I installed it on an older Gateway with just a Pentium D processor and only 2gb ram.  It installed in about 15 minutes and so far things i have installed have been running fine!  Definitely faster and more responsive than Vista Ultimate...  not liking the taskbar though, but i suppose it will grow on me.  Got several updates as well as test update and all went fine.  Time will tell!
