Test Updates Coming for the Windows 7 RC

Starting this Tuesday (May 12th) we will release up to ten test updates to PCs running the Windows 7 RC in order to verify our ability to deliver and manage updating of Windows 7 in certain real-life scenarios. These updates do not deliver any new features or fixes. This is the second set of test updates we’ve released to test the updating mechanism for Windows 7 - the first set were released on February 24.     You guys are doing an awesome job on Windows 7. I downloaded the beta, but didn't like it as much as the Release Candidate. I have two complaints for you. First my network card doesn't work if I have more then 2 GBs of RAM in my computer. My Wireless NIC is a Netgear WG311. Next, the Aero is a little jittery when I open My Documents, Computer, Network, or anything that deals with a Windows built in feature. Other then those two complaint, it sees to be running very stable.

    @tpi2007, try using a software called PowerStrip to create a custom monitor driver or specify a custom monitor resolution and see if that works in Windows 7.

    Interesting how many 'commentators' appear angry. Probably wish they were still running the old IBM XT. If you don't like Windows 7/7100 go get a MAC.  Lose the anger guys and try to help build W7 into a better product! And...have a good day.

    do these test updates send back the info of our system status back to microsoft?

    I've a couple pieces of USB hardware that won't work with Win7 in compatibility mode or normal. Trying to install in compatibility mode doesn't work. Not everyone is going to want to shell out umpteen hundred dollars on new kit that's working fine because MS changed one or two bytes in the driver code.

    Hello

    I was trying to setup outlook 2007 with my "live" address, it locked up tight twice.

    Here is a positive, I was able to upgrade from vista 64, on my laptop to windows 7. It is around 30% faster, maybe 40% . I am putting ot thru it's paces. Running Avant IE8 kept crashing before the upgrade, still doing it.  Hope someone reads this.

    thanks for the info  Haralambos...they are kinda on the right track with live sync...need to make it unlimited file shares though and it would be almost perfect...o and maybe the ability to select which files will be shared with which computers....now we just need them to fix the remote media experience issue i was also talking about

    I am just wondering how we give feedback on the RC? There does not seem to be a Feedback link anywhere, the Beta had one everywhere.

    I recently downloaded XdN Tweaker and it has a really handy feature to change the delay time of the window previews when you hover over an icon on the task bar. I think the default is somewhere near 400miliseconds but for some thats too long. I have it changed to 0ms and it is perfect.

    There should be an option in the taskbar settings to change this value. It would be a great feature to implement.
