Test Updates for Windows 7 Beta Users

Starting February 24, we will be releasing up to 5 test updates to PCs running the Windows 7 Beta (Build 7000) via Windows Update. These updates allow us to test and verify our ability to deliver and manage the updating of Windows 7. We typically verify servicing scenarios during a beta.

Windows 7 Beta users will be notified that new updates are available beginning February 24 through Windows Update. Even if the user has Windows Update configured for automatic update – these test updates will not install automatically. Users will need to manually install the test updates through Windows Update.

These updates do not deliver new features or bug fixes. The test updates simply replace system files with the same version of the file currently on the system.

For more information, please visit the Microsoft Update blog.

Again, thank you for helping test Windows 7. Your feedback is extremely valuable!

I love Windows 7, it's faster and easier to use than Windows Vista. I always used Windows XP and I love it, but Windows 7 outstand and even though it's a beta, it works like a final product. It has some bugs but are not important for a conventional user. I look forward the final 7!

I have Intel D865GSA mother board. Shared VGA of 96MB and a RAM of 2GB. I installed windows7 in my computer. Then "DirectDraw acceleration" , "Direct3D acceleration" and "AGP texture acceleration" are "Not available".

After I installed "Intel graphics media accelerator" which i found in my motherboard CD, first two options mentions above turn on.

But then, if I play a video file in any media player the system freezes. I cn't even get task manager at that time. Restaring the computer is the only solution. It freezes when ever video decoding occur.

    IS there a solution......????

Wow I just went back briefly to Vista, I always do a clean install on a spare partition to make sure I can settle my due's securely with uncle sam every year.  You guys have really improved the UAC significantly from Vista, Windows 7 definitely has significant improvements in this area.  You don't appreciate the changes until you go back to Vista.

I used Windows 7 om a O/S that was upgraded from XP to vista. after install of course it was a task to load ne drivers and update key software, however that comes with every new O/S. The Bata is a great it was what vista should have been in the first place. Once all drivers are updated to support Win 7 I believe it will catch on quick but seen more as a upgrade rather than a new awe inspiring O/S. I did have difficultly with the O/S over all being slow even with a terabyte sata drive. I think the main issue was the processor speed, I think Win 7 will work best if ran on a prosser above a Pentium 4 HT 2.8 processor. with a least 2 gigs of ram.

Personally, I don't see what the hype is all about. I'm an IT student at a trade school herein Florida, and I've worked with numerous different OS's. I've liked some and hated some, but regardless of such, nothing stays the same. IT is all about moving forward and developing faster and higher performing technology. In the process, we have to make it look good as well. Despite this, there's still all the hype out there that new OS's are comign out. Here's a quick fix for Microsoft concerening this "problem": Why not have a program installed either through the BIOS, or through a set program, in which the user can change the look and feel of his OS, regardless of whether it's 2000, XP, Vista, &, etc.? By doing this, the people will stop slaying your hard work. It obviously can't be too hard, as I have played multiple games, in which the developers have improved the game, yet they give you an option that you can choose at anytime to be able to go back and forth between the new and old versions. And for all you complainers out there, why not get up and do something about something you don't like, rather than sit at the computer complaing about what you don't like. It takes one man to stand up to a bully, it takes the world to stand up against terrorism!
