Here’s where we stand

I know many of you have had issues with the Windows 7 Beta site over the last 24 hours. As you may have noticed the download site has been up and running smoothly since this morning. That said, we apologize for the inconvenience that it caused some of you.

Due to an enormous surge in demand, the download experience was not ideal so we listened and took the necessary steps to ensure a good experience. We have clearly heard that many of you want to check out the Windows 7 Beta and, as a result, we have decided remove the initial 2.5 million limit on the public beta for the next two weeks (thru January 24th). During that time you will have access to the beta even if the download number exceeds the 2.5 million unit limit.

Thank you for your enthusiasm, interest and willingness to beta test. It has been great to see the positive early reviews and feedback. As you know, this is a beta product. We are working hard to get Windows 7 ready and right. Your input is a critical part of that process. Thank you!

Brandon, you really do deserve employee of the month...Great work keeping us updated as much as possible and also thanks for lifting the 2.5 million thing.

Windows 7 is AMAZING!  I've just finished installing a dual boot with vista and I'm pretty certain I want to make this beta my main OS.  I will keep vista just in case, but this is really great!  Good work over there.

Windows 7 is awesome!! I've had it installed for a week now.. Yes I downloaded it from somewhere else.In my profession i tend to get things early.

And I must say its working flawlessly. No driver issue. I watch TV, dvds, burn cd,dvd's

installed quickly, and boots up faster than the other OS's..

I was also able to install Firefox, Windows Live Meessenger, Office,, and a few porgrams I normally use without a glitch.

Heck if this wasnt a BETA, I'd keep  on as my primary OS

Im planning on building a tri-boot system.. I've done it  before for a few companies.. where I installed XP, 2003 Server ad Vista on one machine. So now I'll probably do it with Win 7.

Anyway thank you Brandon for your time and effort.

cant wait for the final version!  :)

This is the best beta I have ever been a part of.. all My devices are working 3 top notch anti viruses ready for windows 7 beta launch!! I have played DX 10 Games.. so far this is as far as I am concerned not only better and smoother then Vista, But I'm not sure I believe this is a beta 1 build hehe, Excellent job if this is beta 1 I can't wait to be driving the RTM!

    @Brandon LeBlanc,

I have been using 7 all day and must say, it is a great OS.  However, I have found a few things and have submitted about 10 Feedback's now.  When submitting these, will people actually read them?  In a few of my submissions, I have submitted some ideas/suggestions and was wondering if they might get implemented, or do you just mainly look at the Broken submissions?  Also, is there a way that you can track what you submit?  I have signed up for Connect, and I was hoping that now I have a registered key to my email it would add me on Connect to my history so I could have a better chance at accessing future beta's, and that I would be able to view the status of my submitted suggestions/feedback/bug submissions.

Again looks great and am glad to be apart of this experience!

It's working for me.  Thanks Microsoft!

I installed Windows 7 earlier today, and agree completely with the other reviews I've read about it... it's totally awesome.  But I must say one thing... when you first turned on a Windows Vista computer and saw the desktop, there was definitely a "wow" factor.  Transparent windows, new start menu, nice looking icons.  With Windows 7, the desktop looks very little different from Windows Vista.  Not saying that this is a bad thing, but I'm not sure that many users would even be able to tell the difference.  Anywho, great work. This is probably the best (in terms of stability, and reliability) beta 1 version of any product I've ever used.  The vista beta 1 was a MESS!!

Well after the long, sleep deprived past I am very happy and it was well worth it. Have done a Tri install. XP, Vista, Windows 7 on a computer with too many hard drives I built. It was a complete sucess, all OS's working great. Also installed on older computer I use for music that would not take Vista. It has never worked so good. Gave it new life !

Very smooth installs. A big plus!

Cheers to a Good Job !

So far it all looks Great to me !!

Now if I can just stop playing around with it and get that sleep.

    Hee Hee !!!

I don't get how to install it, I downloaded windows 7 and I don't see any .iso files, its just a folder with a bunch of other folders in there with 3 other files- autorun.inf, setup and bootmgr. Is this what everyone else got?
