Here’s where we stand

I know many of you have had issues with the Windows 7 Beta site over the last 24 hours. As you may have noticed the download site has been up and running smoothly since this morning. That said, we apologize for the inconvenience that it caused some of you.

Due to an enormous surge in demand, the download experience was not ideal so we listened and took the necessary steps to ensure a good experience. We have clearly heard that many of you want to check out the Windows 7 Beta and, as a result, we have decided remove the initial 2.5 million limit on the public beta for the next two weeks (thru January 24th). During that time you will have access to the beta even if the download number exceeds the 2.5 million unit limit.

Thank you for your enthusiasm, interest and willingness to beta test. It has been great to see the positive early reviews and feedback. As you know, this is a beta product. We are working hard to get Windows 7 ready and right. Your input is a critical part of that process. Thank you!

    Cheers :)

I just installed it and already found (and reported) some little things here and there. Overall it's looking great, keep it up guys! :D

Brandon, thanks for your work over the past 24 hours and for the work the IT might have had (i don't really beliefe microsoft has not expectet that much traffic).

The registration for download and key, the download itselves .. all has worked really fine (with internet explorer). The download of 3 versions at one (german, english, 32 and 64 bit brought a down speed at 2,8Mbyte/s. Well done.

I am amaized about the help tools provided by 7. And as my first view was deep enough it is definitive a better vista. Usability has increased again. Hope microsoft will become more "ms surface" in the near future (Windows 8?:)

Great job to all - thanks for providing us a look into the development status.

I am having a problem  with installing   windows 7 .  Here's my problem, I  clicked on the update install and it would get up to about 82% and then stop , saying  that the file was damaged or missing.

         PLEASE  HELP !!!!!

Thanks for Windows 7. I have it running on 3 computers to check compatibility issues and so far no problems. I had to call Microsoft Activation center with the given keys though.

I like the interface, less clutter, and faster than my Vista. So far so good. THANK YOU.

Thanks so much for all you and the teams hard work. Absolutely love it so far, and had no problems

For all those having problems installing programs on Windows 7 just download it and save the setup.exe to your desktop and run it in Vista compatability mode and it should install just fine. You may also have to run the program itself in vista compatability mode in order for it to work. I don't know if the same works for games though. You may also have to do the same on some drivers that didn't install by itself too. All drivers and programs that work with vista should work just as well with Windows 7.
